Wedding Ceremonies & Receptions

Stout’s Island Lodge offers an elegant yet relaxed setting with a selection of private event spaces for intimate groups of 10 people, to large tented weddings for up to 175 guests. Built in 1903 by Frank D. Stout as a summer retreat for his family and modeled after the famous Adirondack camps, the lodge was built with four-inch thick plank floors and carved beams imported from Germany. Cabins were erected for his children and other buildings included a three launch boathouse, servant and guest quarters and a recreation hall. Over the past 25 years, new cabins have been erected on the island as well. We have a total of 43 guestrooms on the Island.

Stout’s Island Lodge has a rich history brimming with unique rustic charm and beauty. Imagine a spectacular ceremony on the South Lawn with panoramic views of Red Cedar Lake, or a tranquil gathering in the former master bedroom of the Stout Family with barrel vaulted ceilings and a wood burning fireplace.

We have many activities for you and your guests to enjoy at Stouts. In addition to croquet, we have tennis, bocce ball, hiking trails, swim dock, water boats (water bike, canoes, kayaks), billiards and ping pong. We also have a Great Room full of board games. Many people also like scavenger hunts for the kids in their group. If this is of interest to you, the island staff would be happy to help coordinate. There is a beautiful golf course across the lake at Tagalong which many guests staying on the island take advantage of.

In addition to pamphlet of information, please also review our current catering menu and lodging rates. We do not have a food and beverage minimum for any of our private events, but do require all food and beverage be purchased from us with the exception of wedding cakes/pastries from a licensed bakery. We have an extremely talented Chef and culinary team who will work closely with you to plan the food and beverage for your event. We do have banquet menus, but they are also very flexible and can customize menus for you. It is entirely up to you what meals you would like to serve your guests beyond the Saturday reception. Breakfast is included in the lodging rate. Many groups host a rehearsal dinner Friday evening as well for all guests staying on the island.

If you have any questions, comments, or would like to inquire about availability, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone (715.354.3646) or by email events(at)

Hold Policy: If you are interested in booking an event we can hold your event date for up to a week until your initial tour.  Following your tour if you express interest in booking you will be sent a contract and have a week to sign.  The full event facilities fee will be charged upon signature of the contract and is nonrefundable.
