Birchwood WI Restaurant Dining Hours and Information
Visit our Events Page for our full calendar of events, including wine dinners and tastings.
The Stout’s Island Lodge Restaurant is located in the Main Lodge. The main dining room features a wood burning fireplace and expansive views of the lake to both the north and the south. Just across the hall, the Great Room boasts a second wood burning fireplace with comfortable casual seating and a fully stocked bar. Two private dining rooms, an outdoor terrace, picnics, and a harvest table in the kitchen garden are also available for groups of all sizes.
The menu, which changes regularly based on what foods are in season, features Midwest Regional Cuisine using indigenous and cultivated ingredients from the American and Canadian Midwest. The islands chef supports small local family farmers and artisanal producers to source organically grown and sustainably grown local ingredients. An expansive kitchen garden is located east of the Lodge.
We offer complete bar service, including an interesting and extensive wine and beer list. The nightly bonfire complete with S’mores rounds out a delicious dining experience!

The dining room dress code for breakfast and lunch is “island casual” (jeans, t-shirts, sandals, etc.). In the evenings the standard is business casual (button-downs, polo shirts, slacks, blouses, skirts, etc.). Jeans and shorts that are not worn, torn, or distressed in any way may be worn during dinner as well. Caps and hats are not allowed at anytime. It is our goal to provide the finest dining experience possible and therefore we ask all our guests to make the best possible effort to adhere to this dress code. However, we still wish for you to relax and enjoy your meal with us–please ask us if you have any questions or concerns.
A limited number of special fixed price picnic baskets are available as a fun alternative to our dining room. Reserved during breakfast hours, our kitchen staff will create a deliciously memorable highlight to your Stout’s Island experience.
Outside Food & Beverages
Guests are welcome to bring food and beverages to the island as long as they are consumed within your room. Food and drinks brought into common rooms and grounds on the main island must be purchased from the restaurant or bar.
To maximize the experience of all of our guests, our dining room can accommodate a maximum of eight guests seated at a single table. For larger groups, you may reserve Mrs. Stout’s Room, the Ice House, or one of several outdoor spaces (indoor space must be available as back up) in advance of your visit to guarantee availability. If you choose not to reserve space for your group, same day availability of group dining spaces is first-come, first serve and only one group may reserve and/or use a group dining space per night. If a group dining space is unavailable, groups of nine or more guests that choose not to reserve a space for dining in advance may be asked to make separate reservations or may not be able to be accommodated at that time.
Groups of 15 or more must make arrangements in advance.
The majority of the island and its facilities are closed to the public; however dining reservations can be made for lunch or dinner, Sunday through Thursday. Reservations must be made at least seven days in advance. A $5 per person transportation fee will be charged at the time of reservation. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. An email confirmation will be sent stating ferry times, dress code, and other related island policies. Group dining policies apply to non-lodging guests as well (see above). Stout’s Island Club members can still come anytime—weekends included.
